Stop Guessing, Start Knowing: Vulcan's Predictive Edge in Power & Data Centers

Posted on: May 23, 2025

Vulcan UC for Data Centers has nearly achieved its goal of 80% coverage within a month. We are now monitoring over 86 GW of projects across North America. The total number of projects in the IIR database extending to 2030 is 112 GW. Several 2025 projects are already under construction according to IIR, and we will be adding them this week to validate their online dates based on their first structure completion.

Notably, over 50% of future data center expansion projects are occurring at existing locations.

Vulcan UC clients not only gain the ability to view weekly satellite images, but also benefit from our proprietary insight columns, including land clear dates, first structure dates, and earliest online dates. Our earliest online date projections are derived from historical project timelines. While it's possible for a project to surpass our earliest online date, the probability is low and would typically require an exceptionally rapid development, akin to an "Elon Musk-like feat." Examining just this summer with our 50% coverage, we project that approximately 2.5 GW will not meet their stated online dates as listed by IIR.

Clients can obtain this valuable information each week, with tables generally updated by the end of Monday. Users can download the UC table via the UI into Microsoft Excel or utilize Snowflake. Our API is currently under construction and is expected to be available in a few weeks.

We also offer an add-on service for clients who wish to monitor their own specific locations. These private monitoring efforts are integrated seamlessly into our established process and update cycles. Essentially, you eliminate the need to develop a separate internal process and hire staff for satellite tasking, data ingestion, and image-to-intelligence conversion. Our pre-developed infrastructure handles this work for you.

Despite being less than a year old, Vulcan has achieved significant acceptance from major companies and organizations, including ERCOT. Last week, we finalized a major agreement with ERCOT, which will enable them to gain a much better and clearer understanding of both generation projects and large loads. The future of energy markets will be driven by more efficient, precise information and intelligence, and SynMax Vulcan is poised to lead this transformation through timely satellite imaging and processing.
